Math Kangaroo Competition Preparation
One of the goals of Math Chicago Classes is to train kids to do well at Math Kangaroo Competition.
Math Kangaroo Competition originated in France in 1991 but the idea itself was adopted from Australia, where the name Kangaroo came from. The contest quickly became very popular among students in many European countries. The contest's main purpose is to promote mathematical thinking and stimulate an interest in math, by providing students with an opportunity to compare their abilities with the abilities of other students from different countries around the world. Nowadays almost 5,000,000 students from about 40 countries play the game, world-wide. The competition is, like not many others, open to every student. No math skill tests are required to take part in the event.
Since 1998 Math Kangaroo Competition has been taking place in US. All elementary and high school students are invited to be mathematically challenged. The competition is organized once a year in March. The sign up to the event takes place in the fall, from September to December. Competition is organized in many states of US and each participant is awarded for being a part of the contest with small gifts and all the top winners with bigger prizes. Math Kangaroo in USA encourages students to master their mathematical knowledge. Gives them confidence in their ability for comprehending mathematics. Helps them to understand how mathematics applies in nature's laws and humans' activities. Develops their ability to derive pleasure and satisfaction through intellectual life and least but not last shows that mathematical education is significant in any part of the world.
